How would you describe your O level journey?

It certainly wasn’t a bed of roses. I was actually struggling academically up until till June last year. It was only with the constant support of my family and teachers that I was able to make remarkable progress in my studies. I was blessed to be in the company of understanding friends who knew when I needed “me time” for revision and left me alone.

Were there any significant incidences during your O level year?

I was at my nadir right after receiving my Preliminary 1 results. My self-esteem was at an all-time low and I had self-doubts about my chances of doing well. Fortunately for me, my CCA teacher, Mr Chua offered me comforting words to console me and spurred me to be resilient. Mdm Kumari, my Tamil teacher, was a pillar of strength who offered me practical advice on time management. She was generous with her advice and never turned me down whenever I approached her. Although I was dampened by the Prelim 1 results, I was determined to pick up my broken pieces and set things right. During the June holidays last year, my family travelled to Malaysia to visit our relatives. Although I was dampened by the Prelim 1 results, I was determined to pick up my broken pieces and set things right. While on holiday, my parents and relatives were accommodating enough to give me a special room that was distraction-free to study well. I am eternally grateful for such a caring family.

What is your favourite memory of YTSS?

The Seasons! 4 Gala show that my friends and I attended as a cohort last April. It was an excellent opportunity to bond with my classmates and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the performances in the company of my friends and teachers.

Moving forward, what’s next for you?

I am looking forward to pursuing my A levels in a junior college. I am still in the process of deciding where to apply to. I hope to pursue my tertiary education in the social sciences or law. Let’s see how it goes!
