The Open day 2018

18 May 2018

This Open day was the first in a series of three touch points that Yishun Town has planned for parents and students who are interested to find out more about YTSS.  The event kick started with our Principal, Ms Sharon Yeo sharing with parents and students about the different CCAs in YTSS as well as the DSA application process.

Parents were provided with a copy of the Clarion, our in-house newsletter to give them an insight into life at YTSS and activities and programs that are available to the students in this school.

This was followed by a free an easy session where parents could stop by at various booths put up by the different CCAs. These booths were manned by students of YTSS who not only answered any queries that the parents had regarding their respective CCAs, but also allowed the primary school student visitors and their parents to try their hands on various CCA related activities.

We hope that our student visitors had fun trying all the activities and parents were able to find out more about the school and will be here again for our next open day, which focusses on curriculum and academic matters and will be held on the 16th of October 2018.

Thank you to all who attended. We will Excel!!

The Caring Teacher Awards 2018

16 May 2018

The Caring Teacher Awards is a biennial event that pays tribute to teachers who show care and concern for the holistic development of their students, and go the extra mile to ensure their charges grow up to be confident and independent learners.

Started in 1996, the Caring Teacher Awards is organised by the National Institute of Education, Singapore with support from ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd and the Ministry of Education.

These are teachers who our YTzens voted for because they feel their teachers are selfless, concerned, nurturing, dedicated, authentic and of course, caring.

This year, YTSS is proud to share that four of our teachers have been awarded THE CARING TEACHER AWARDS 2018. They are:

·         Mr New Chi Lin

·         Ms Lily Choo

·         Mr Ramthan Bin Ab Wahid

·         Mr Muhammad Tirmidzi B Abdul Ghani

Homegrown Narratives of Resilience and Gratitude – Girls of Grit

12 April 2018
12 April 2018 - a date that will forever be immortalised in the history of YTSS. The date that saw the ‘B’ Division basketball girls fight their toughest against thetitans of the game in the finals of the 2018 National Schools Games Competition, Singapore Chinese Girls’ School. It was also the day that saw the spirit of YTSS rise, roar and reverberate throughout the OCBC Arena and the school hall where teachers, parents and YTzens chorused cheers of support in unison to egg the girls on. Months of hardwork coupled with an unwavering spirit that saw the girls pick themselves up after every setback brought them to where they eventually reached.
