AMK Hospital

As part of the Secondary 1 Values in Action (VIA) Project, Secondary 1 students will be given an opportunity to engage and interact with the elderly patients at Ang Mo Kio Thye Hua Kwan Hospital (AMKH). AMKH is a subsidiary of the Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society, a non-profit voluntary welfare organization aimed at providing community based services.

The purpose of this VIA project is to address the needs of two institutions, with the purpose of facilitating exchanges, and enhance co-operation in the field of service learning and volunteerism. Through weekly scheduled sessions, students will have the opportunity to engage the elderly patients through individual activity-based interactions. This will allow students to broaden and enhance their learning experiences through their outreach efforts to the community.

This year, there is a total of 16 sessions scheduled for all Secondary 1 classes. Each session is a 2 hour visit from 3 – 5 PM on every Thursday. Each class is entitled to 2 visits and the CIP hours will be included in their CCA records.
